Have your say on £80,000 improvements at play park
What improvements would you like to see at a play park in Titchfield Common as part of an £80,000 make-over project?
Abshot Road play park
The Abshot Road play area will be having the refurbishments, which are due to be completed in the summer of 2014.
A public consultation on the plans is being held by Fareham Borough Council until Friday November 15.
Questionnaires have been sent to 140 households living close to the park, but residents can have their say by visiting the council’s website.
Councillor Connie Hockley, who oversees leisure and community in the borough, said: “It is so important that people get involved in this consultation to help ensure the new play area meets the needs of the children, young people and families that use the park.
“The existing park is over 10 years old now, so it will be lovely to see some new play equipment and facilities installed at Abshot Road.”
To request a consultation questionnaire contact or email .

I have lived in the PO14 area for over eight years. The park between Frogoram fields and Horse park crescent has never seen a significant refurbishment during this time. The most this park has received was a new bench and a lick of paint after months of vandalism. This park is considerably smaller than the one on Abshot road and has significantly less equipment in it. No consultation has ever been arranged regarding our park. It’s content and quality falls way below the par of other parks in the area and it does not meet the needs of the local children. I believe a revue is required for all parks in the local area and a league table be draw to assess what needs to be done and where. This should contain park content, surrounding population and length of time since last refurbishment. IT is clear that these points have not been considered fully in the planning of this project.

this is great news as this park is in much need of refurbishment along with some other smaller ones in the area. My only hope is that is does not get vandalised or misused by unwanted misuse by older children. Does include improvements to the skateboard area too?
